It was to be her greatest masquerade . . .
Pamela Darby needs a man—preferably a Highland brute with more brawn than brains. Determined to save her sister from selling her virtue, the resourceful beauty requires a strapping specimen to pose as a duke's long-lost heir. Pamela plans to collect the generous reward, then send him on his way. Lucky for the brazen beauty, the seductive, silver-eyed highwayman who just held up their carriage could be her man . . .
Connor Kincaid has given up on his dream of restoring his clan's honor. And now this plucky Englishwoman is asking him to take part in a risky charade that could land them both on the gallows. Never a man to resist a challenge or the allure of a beautiful woman, Connor strikes the devil's bargain that could seal both their fates. The highwayman and the hellion journey to London as both enemies and allies—a woman who has everything to gain and a man who has nothing to lose . . . but his heart.
Left in dire straits when their actress mother dies in a fire, Pamela and Sophie Darby head to Scotland, hoping to find the long-lost son of an elderly English duke and claim the reward for his recovery. Then Connor Kincaid, a brawny, sexy Highlander, waylays their coach, and after a series of unexpected, sometimes hilarious misadventures, the ever-resourceful Pamela convinces him to "become" the lost heir and take subtle revenge upon the hated English. Their ruse succeeds-and then Connor gives things an unexpected twist. Well-matched, beautifully antagonistic protagonists keep things sizzling in a superbly plotted story laced with just enough mystery and danger to keep readers on edge. This is the second in the Kincaid Highland series. The ever-popular Medeiros lives in Kentucky.

September 24, 2009: I really love Teresa Medeiros. I read my first Teresa Medeiros book when I was 15 and have read everyone since.
I loved this book. I didn't expect not to, but you never know. It was wonderful. The plot moved along quickly, I loved the characters and over all enjoyed it. I finished it in one day.My only complaints would be that I wish Sophie had been more fully developed and her relationship with Crispin more explored. I also wish there had been more interaction between Connor and Catroina throughout the book as this was a sort of sequel to Some Like it Wicked.Overall, it was excellent and I can't wait for the next Teresa Medeiros!I Also Recommend: Some Like It Wicked, Soul of a Highlander, Love's Eclipse Of The Heart.

July 18, 2009: I basically buy romances based on whether or not the combination of the description and picture on the cover make me laugh or not. Obviously this did, an I found it your average romance novel. The story is one that is all too familiar and is simply set in a different place. But that is what I enjoy about romance novels is that you don't have to think about it too much and you get a smile on our face at the end.
