This attractive, medium-sized dog makes a hardy hunter, as well as a fine household pet. Here is reliable information on its general care. Books in the Complete Pet Owner's Manuals series present basic information about pets for new or soon-to-be owners. Advice and instruction covers feeding, housing, health care, training, grooming, protection against hazards, and much more. Texts emphasize pet care basics and are easy for all readers to understand, but most titles in this series also present facts that even experienced pet owners and breeders will find new and useful. All books in this series are filled with high quality full-color photos and instructive line drawings.

September 01, 2009: It was a very easy read and it helped to cover the basics. The most important aspect of this bread is their coat. Owners really need to brush and groom them regularly. This book will give you some good pointers.

December 07, 1999: The Wheaten is the Peter Pan of dog breeds. These dogs will charm their way into your heart. This book deals with the joy of owning a dog from this special breed. A breed such as this requires a book worthy of it. I hope you'll find mine to meet those high standards. Although I've written this book for the novice Wheaten Terrier owner in mind, I think even the advance Wheaten owners will enjoy the helpful information. This book is completely written for the Wheaten owner -- it is not a cookie cutter book, like you see with some other books in this price range. I cover extensively the following topics: purchasing a Wheaten from a reputable breeder, adopting a Wheaten, genetic diseases, the Wheaten personality, is the Wheaten hypoallergenic?, grooming (includes trimming!), nutrition, caring for the Wheaten when you bring him or her home, training, and health care. It also has an extensive web reference -- something I haven't seen in other books. I've been 'in dogs' since 1987 and I am a professional dog writer with articles published in Dog Fancy, Pet Life, Pet View, Dog and Kennel, Natural Pet, Mushing Magazine, among others. I am currently a columnist with Dog and Kennel. This is my first book, which I am very proud of. I hope you enjoy this book. This book will be available March 2000. Maggie Bonham
