Textbook (Hardcover - REV)
Textbook Information
The gold standard in pediatric anesthesia references is back in a thoroughly revised and updated New Edition. Once again, renowned contributors offer exhaustive discussions of basic science and clinical practice for every aspect of the specialty. A wealth of new chapters, new content, and a new DVD-ROM featuring video and color-slide presenta-tions make this resource a must-have. Anesthesia & Analgesia called the previous edition "a modern classic" and noted that "each chapter is well written, clear, and concise."
The book contains predominantly black-and-white illustrations, with some color illustrations.
This book is a major reference for the perioperative medical management of infants and children who undergo surgery. This sixth edition has been almost completely rewritten. Compared with the previous edition, there are many more authors responsible for writing different areas. The purpose is similar to that in previous editions: comprehensive coverage of physiology, pharmacology, and clinical anesthesia as it relates to the care of infants and children. In addition, the authors and contributors have accomplished this goal. This is a necessary book. Each edition has come closer to meeting these objectives: the current edition is the best. The book is written for all members of the anesthesia care team: student, resident, practitioner, and specialist. The editors and authors are experts in the areas they have written. This book is highly recommended for any person who takes care of children perioperatively: medical student, resident, nurse anesthetist, or attending physician. It also serves as a good reference and should be available in medical libraries. The book is appropriately illustrated. References are current and pertinent. The table of contents and index are good. The overall appearance is excellent. The book is unique because of the depth and breadth of its acceptance and because perioperative pain management is becoming better understood; the book contains well written and well illustrated sections on these areas. The book remains current with a discussion on new techniques and new drugs.
