September 24, 2008: After having seen some of Nancy Duarte's material on a Vizthink webcast, and having seen some books discussing the pitfalls and merits of PowerPoint as a medium, I was anxious to read this book. With a combination of an excellent understanding about how people actually consume information, a wealth of experience in designing messages for consumption, and a natural talent for design and information, Nancy Duarte has a real winner here. Take it in small bites, read a chapter at a time, and I'm sure you'll find, as I did, that you'll be going back to the PPTs you've put together, to see how you can infuse your presentation materials with some of these insights. Don't get overwhelmed by the master's work, get inspired by the pieces you can understand and get started on your own journeyman's work! This is definitely part of my top shelf library now.
