    Synopsis

A proven series with a hot new look. The #1 bestselling author returns with her most anticipated novel yet.

When a vampire serial killer sends Anita Blake a grisly souvenir from Las Vegas, she has to warn Sin City's local authorities what they're dealing with. Only it's worse than she thought. Ten officers and one executioner have been slain-paranormal style. Anita heads to Vegas, where's she's joined by three other federal marshals, including the ruthless Edward. It's a good thing he always has her back, because when she gets close to the bodies, Anita senses "tiger" too strongly to ignore it. The weretigers are very powerful in Las Vegas, which means the odds of her rubbing someone important the wrong way just got a lot higher.

    Publishers Weekly

Hamilton's 17th Anita Blake novel draws the vampire hunter into a game of cat-and-mouse with a particularly monstrous vampire named Vittorio. Aided by sadistic serial killer Otto Jefferies, convenient sociopath Edward Kemper and fanged escorts handpicked by her lover Jean-Claude, U.S. marshal Anita offers her services to Las Vegas, now under siege from Vittorio's army of enthralled preternatural beings. Manipulated by the cunning Vittorio and occasionally misled by coincidental events, Anita employs her insight into Vittorio's condition and weaponized libido as the decisive weapons in this struggle. The book is largely concerned with the melodramatic conflict between hunter and hunter and Blake's soap-operatic love life, but Hamilton does manage some genuinely moving passages, particularly those describing the terror of innocent vampires caught up in the arbitrary and draconian U.S. legal system. October 30, 2009: I thought this one was ok but I wish Hamilton would return the story to St. Louis so different things in the story would be resolved. Taking the character to another city and away from all her companions seems like a cop out. Get her home so the story can move on instead of stalling out.

October 29, 2009: I would recommend that anyone who loves vampire series reads this series! The Twiligt series got me going into the vampire books- but after all of the books I have gotten my hands on- I still think this series is the best. It is 17 books long so far and I cant wait until she publishes another! I need to see anita and Richard make something work- I just love Richard. I love all the characters. I would not recommend someone reading the series out of order- you have to start with book number one to appreciate all of the characters. You wont be sorry!

For alternate series- (after this one of course!) try the Charlaine Harris series ((True Blood Series)), also the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series, the Argeneau vampire series and the Vampire Diaries Series.

    I know I am obsessed!
