Biography

Marsha M. Linehan, PhD, ABPP, is Professor of Psychology and Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington, Seattle, and Director of the Behavioral Research and Therapy Clinics there. She is founder of the Marie Institute of Behavioral Technology and the company Behavioral Tech, LLC. The recipient of numerous awards for her distinguished clinical and research contributions, Dr. Linehan has served as president (2007) of the Society of Clinical Psychology, Division 12 of the American Psychological Association.

July 19, 2009: This is a manual that outlines how to best focus one's self, and still allow for individuality and self expression. The front of the book is a manual tht explains the concepts of the therapy including how to focus one's mind on more positive thinking, proper thought patterns, how to control responses, how to speak to others and one's self, and what to do when stressed. Although this was created for people with Border Personality Disorder, the concepts held within are helpful to each and every one of us! From basic concepts of (count to ten) to the thoughts of radical acceptance (i don't like this, and don't want this, but this is what i have to work with right now), this book shows people how to cope with life and crises.

The verbiage is more suited to the clinician, but it is not completely out of the reach of the layman. Applications can be found in psychological therapy, schools and teaching, and in workplace motivation as well; there may be many more...
