Thirty hair-raising tales, selected from international ghostlore, have been skillfully retold especially for young people. Famous stories like “The Robber Bridegroom” by the Brothers Grimm, “Tailypo,” and “The Golem” are included, as well as retellings of stories by some of the world’s greatest authors, including Nathaniel Hawthorne and Washington Irving.
This collection of spooky stories from around the world is sure to bring gleeful shudders to young and old alike. Eerie illustrations help make this book the perfect gift for Halloween.
Short & Shivery makes a paperback appearance. These stories drawn from the Brothers Grimm and Nathaniel Hawthorne among others reflect San Souci's amazing ability to draw from a large number of traditions and sources and tell a story guaranteed to involve listeners. Perhaps, best of all for weary parents...these stories are indeed short.
