      Synopsis

Bulging in-boxes, out-of-control stress, and even climate change serve as reminders that when it comes to being happy and healthy, less is more. In this interactive journal, organization expert Mary Carlomagno leads readers on a journey toward release and discovery. Guided by the principle that the way you spend your time and money should reflect your true priorities, Secrets of Simplicity shows how to make practical changes to unburden your closets and calendars and make room for what's really important. Readers can record their successes, as they de-clutter their homes and in the process, their minds.

March 03, 2009: Secrets of Simplicity by Mary Carlomagno combines Eastern spirituality, including yoga and meditation, with clutter removal and organizational tips.

I like the clever design--it is a book with a spine, but it is also a spiral. This makes it handy to use, because it folds back and still has a spine when on a bookshelf.

This is a quick read, a book for those who love to take quizzes and record their thoughts and actions. Very hands on.

I am an eco-friendly Feng Shui practitioner who personally has no problem with clutter or living a simple life--but am always on the lookout to share books with my clients that might help them. I would recommend this book to some, but not all, of those that need help simplifying their lives. Again--not everyone is the "workbook" type.

Carlomagno explains that stress is s result of clutter, that simplifying ones life will reduce stress.

Each chapter has its own tab. Release is the first. She describes releasing things like one does from Lent.

There is a simplify, organize, and treasure section.

In the chapter on focus, she recommends breathing exercises. In invest, she suggests paying down credit cards, eating at home instead of at restaurants, and saving money.

In discover, the reader is encouraged to finding one's life dream.

In thrive, she describes how simplicity leads to a clear mind.

The book is simple and spare, matching the theme.

In addition to this workbook, I would like to recommend HARMONIOUS ENVIRONMENT: BEAUTIFY, DETOXIFY & ENERGIZE YOUR LIFE, YOUR HOME & YOUR PLANET as I do for many of my clients, as it provides many ways to simplify and beautify ones life. For related money and simplifying, read Suze Ormon's 2009 ACTION PLAN.

I Also Recommend: Suze Orman's 2009 Action Plan, Harmonious Environment.
