An ordinary Sedona school day turns cosmic when Schizandra faints. What prophets have whispered for millennia has finally come to pass. Schizandra Ginger Parker has crossed the veil, and she now holds the key to human evolution. But her visit to the underworld marks only half the journey. The galaxy itself depends on her awakening. Will Schizandra conquer her own mythic demons? Will strangers unite to save her so that she can save the world? Humanity has come this far before -- many times -- but fear has always stopped the transformation. Can Schizandra lead Earth back to Paradise? Readers will laugh, cry and shiver their way through Book One of the Schizandra series.

August 25, 2009: Schizandra and Gates of Mu has a cover that spells mystery, enlightenment, fantasy and intrigue.
The complexity of the characters and of the storyline is simplified by Ms. Bruno's excellent command of the English language. The story's main character is a thirteen year old girl, Schizandra, who has been recently orphaned. She is sent to live with her grandmother, Melissa, a woman she doesn't even know, who lives in Sedona, Arizona. Before they have a chance to get to know one another, Schizandra has an episode at school and slips into a coma.A colorful cast of characters gather around the young girl's bed and they offer their own cures and solutions to awaken Schizandra. There is Melissa, the grandmother who is also a midwife; two maiden aunts who practice reflexology; Mark the handsome pilot who tries to fly Schizandra out of Sedona, but is unable to because of unseen powers; young Haru, a Japanese-Native American school mate and finally a mysterious Navajo. While they are coaxing Schizandra back to life, she is on the journey of a lifetime and has entered the Gates of Mu, also known as Lemuria. Mythical and magical creatures guide Schizandra on an enchanting adventure which embraces countless myths, legend and facts. The characters on both sides of the veil learn about love and compassion and that our lives, and the lives of our ancestors, not to mention future lives, are all woven together with one harmonious thread. The chronicle ends at just the right time and yet leaves the reader yearning for more. This New Age novel challenges the reader to look deeper, not take synchronicity in our lives for granted to acknowledge the differences in each of us.I recommend this book for a most enjoyable read, but also to stretch the imagination and get lost on a mysterious journey! I look forward to the next installment in this series.Reviewed by: Donetta Garman, Allbooks Review www.allbookreviews.com
