Discover the true meaning of the holidays with Santa's Favorite Story.
The forest animals are alarmed when it appears that Santa might be too tired to make his Christmas rounds, until he recounts for them the Nativity story which gives the holiday its true significance.
The animals find Santa asleep in the woods and wonder if Christmas is coming early or not at all. Santa assured his friends that he has just been taking a snooze after a long hike. He was getting himself in shape for the big job on Christmas Eve. Then he shares the story of the first Christmas - the birth of the Christ child, thus helping his animal friends understand the true meaning of the holiday. 1997 (orig.

February 23, 2009: I enjoyed this book. It is fun to read to my daughters. It is a nice way to bring together Santa and Jesus.

December 10, 2005: It is sad that someone is unable to make the 'bridge' from Santa's telling the story up until the stable to the very logical conclusion of who was born in Bethlehem. This is a wonderful, simple story that doesn't need to go any further. Hopefully, you have taught your children enough about the story so that they know who was there in the manger--and why. I used this book for years in my Sunday School classes (I taught pre-k through first grade) and it was a perfect springboard into deeper discussions of 'who, what, why, and how'. Every single child I ever taught knew who was in that humble stable, without the book's having to tell them. All were delighted to offer details. The story's purpose is to show that Santa certainly knows that Christmas has nothing to do with him, but everything to do with the birth of Jesus. If the scores of children I taught over the years could grasp the meaning of this story, I am shocked that an adult is left wanting more. Use your imagination, your beliefs, and encourage your children to 'fill in the blanks'. You will be proud of the depth of knowledge they possess!
