    Synopsis

Published a year after his stunning debut novel, Carrie, 'Salem's Lot firmly cemented Stephen King's name in the literary lexicon of great American storytellers. His rich and finely crafted tale of a mundane New England town under siege by the forces of darkness is both a homage to Bram Stoker's classic Dracula and an allegory of our post-Vietnam society. Considered one of the most terrifying vampire novels ever written, it cunningly probes the shadows of the human heart — and the insular evils of small-town America.

    Chattanooga Times

A novel of chilling, unspeakable evil.

November 15, 2009: If you enjoy being scared, then this is the book for you. It is a story of a town that is being invaded by vampires turning the townspeople into the undead. Whats cool about the book is that each chapter is from a different characters perspective. The vampires don't arrive until later in the book... just so you get to know the characters, so when they die you actually feel for them. But before the vampires arrive you are still scared with stories of the old abandoned mansion in this town. If you are scared easily this is not the book for you. But if you enjoy being frightened and gore, this is the book for you.

November 10, 2009: You heard me- Allamagoosalum. I have no idea what this is and it's driving me crazy, even though it was spoken about only once in the book.

But enough of my problems. King has one of my favorite writing styles that has been poorly imitated by Stephanie Meyer. It's his over discriptive style. The great thing about it is the need to not imagine or over imagine the more gory scenes. But it never becomes too oversaturated in usless adjectives and dumb mental close-ups.

All in all, I thouroughly enjoyed this novel. It's an edgey whirlwind that leaves you hanging on for dear life near the end when it picks up wicked fast. And i recommend reading the epilouge it provides a grand scene of ultimatum. Its fantastic!

I Also Recommend: Reise Reise, Mutter, Black House, The Talisman, The Stand.
