Very readable and comprehensive. I'm a very experienced C++ programmer, but haven't done a lot of coding in Java. I spent a few weeks reading this, making flash cards, writing small programs to practice using the API and test nuances of the language, and then a weekend taking the practice exams and reviewing my mistakes. As a professional programmer this book was easy to read. Most of the material was easy to understand after first pass. It pre-supposes one already knows java. I've been doing Java for 5 years on and off and I learned things through the Study Guide. The exam sample questions each have to be read really carefully. I made a first pass through the book in about 3 weeks. Next I will go through it again...
