      Synopsis

ROBERT LUDLUM was the author of twenty-one novels, each one a New York Times bestseller. There are more than 210 million of his books in print, and they have been translated into thirty-two languages. He is the author of The Scarlatti Inheritance, The Chancellor Manuscript, and the Jason Bourne series—The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum—among others. Mr. Ludlum passed away in March, 2001.

ERIC VAN LUSTBADER is most widely known as the New York Times bestselling author of twenty international bestselling thrillers including Ninja and Black Heart. He is also the author of two successful and highly regarded series of fantasy novels, The Sunset Warrior Cycle and The Pearl Saga. His novels have been translated into over twenty languages. Lustbader was born and raised in Greenwich Village. He and his wife, Victoria, have been residents of the South Fork of Long Island for more than fifteen years.

      Publishers Weekly

Lustbader resurrects Ludlum's hero in this thriller that fails to recapture the intensity of the original but still packs plenty of punches. This time around, Jason Bourne must track down his would-be assassin, but finds himself in the middle of an investigation that could trigger a new world war. Jeremy Davidson brings the novel necessary realism with a range of believable characters. His ability to capture the subtleties of numerous accents and dialects without falling into caricature is commendable. A splendid reading of an otherwise routine action thriller. A Grand Central hardcover (Reviews, Apr. 6). (June)

November 11, 2009: I am so very grateful to Mr. Van Lustbader for taking over for Mr. Ludlum and continuing the Bourne series. The writing is spectacular and he paints a very vivid picture of characters, in the tradition of Robert Ludlum. Thank you!

September 14, 2009: Holy moly! So many characters. So many stories. So many diversions. Jeez you need a roster to keep track of who's who and what they're doing. A struggle to read. Amazingly we are reading about one character training terrorists in a desert and then he's in another part of the world 500 miles away in the span of 2 sentences! Confusing. Mr. Van Lustbader: Simplify...simplify...simplify. You'd keep the reader from drifting off to sleep. Disappointing.
