Synopsis

Warning: Not to be listened to after dark

Capturing witches, Binding boggarts, Driving away ghosts

For years, Old Gregory has been the Spook for the county, ridding the local villages of evil. Now his time is coming to an end. But who will take over for him? Twenty-nine apprentices have tried -- some floundered, some fled, some failed to stay alive.

Only Thomas Ward is left. He's the last hope; the last apprentice.  Can Thomas succeed? Will he learn the difference between a benign witch and a malevolent one? Does the Spook's warning against girls with pointy shoes include Alice? And what will happen if Thomas accidentally frees Mother Malkin, the most evil witch in the county ... ?

Performed by Christopher Evan Welch

October 26, 2008: This story will have you looking over your shoulder.
The authors sets a story which carries into 5 more gloriously creepy books.
Ignore the back of the cover which reads,"Don't read," so and so page "after dark." Trust me, there are scarier pages.
This book is scary, but not gory. It will give you the creeps, but not nightmares.
It is a thrilling book, which you will find difficult to put down.
An excellent book for someone ready to move from Harry Potter.
Recommended for 11 and up, due to intense scenes of witches, and evil spirits.
Have fun!

May 10, 2008: This book was about a young kid and a 'Spook' and he was his apprentice. They hunt witches and many other magical beings. But the boy makes friends with a witch girl. This book was very good and I loved all 4 of the series. When I bought this book, I didn't pick it up for a few months, then I got really bored one day and I desided to read. I finished it that day. You won't be disapointed. Read it!
