Troubled by the feeling that something was deeply wrong, Rev. Douglas Sweet left behind his obligations as an active Catholic priest in exchange for pursuing the underlying reason for his unrest. Leading him into three years of isolation, his passion drove him to discover that the essential truth of Jesus' cross is buried beneath the misperceptions of ancient time and interpretations. As a church:
We have missed the fundamental reason for his coming.
We have lost sight of the kingdom to which he pointed.
We have misunderstood the gates that he opened and why he died.
In effect, the underlying strength of the cross has been held to silence. The mission of the Son was to bring love forward; that is what changes the world. However, opposed to living in the solution, for two-thousand years we have lived with our focus set on fixing the problems of sin and evil. As a result, opposed to realizing the full conquest of the Son, our precepts and practices have been the root cause for perpetuating fear and spiritual oppression.

June 19, 2009: Have you ever read a book that it did not matter where in the book you started reading and the book could speak to you? Have you ever read a book that when you read it out-loud that the words came to life? Have you ever read a book that after reading a paragraph you wanted to read it again and again to see if you really got the meaning that the author intended? The Redemption Key is that kind of book. It is not the kind of book that you want to read while walking on the treadmill, it is the kind of book that you keep with you and read, read and read again. It has been a joy, an inspiration and an eye opener to the kinds of feelings we all have regarding our faith. Does God really accept us as we are, do we 'have' to keep asking forgiveness over and over, is God's love enough. Reverend Douglas Sweet would say yes, accept God's love and flourish. Our faith is enough. Thank you for writing something that we have been waiting to hear. I recommend this book.
