    Synopsis

    2008 Retailer's Choice Award winner!
Tony Dungy's words and example have intrigued millions of people, particularly following his victory in Super Bowl XLI, the first for an African American coach. How is it possible for a coach--especially a football coach--to win the respect of his players and lead them to the Super Bowl without the screaming histrionics, the profanities, the demand that the sport come before anything else? How is it possible for anyone to be successful without compromising faith and family? In this inspiring and reflective memoir, Coach Dungy tells the story of a life lived for God and family--and challenges us all to redefine our ideas of what it means to succeed. Includes a foreword by Denzel Washington and a 16-page color photo insert.

    Book has lasting effect!by BlockM

October 04, 2009: I thought this book was outstanding. One of the central themes is staying composed and dealing with the heartache and headaches in life in a calm and almost calculated manner through your belief in Christ. Dungy accepts all issues in life and does not deny or hide from responsibility. This can be a great book for someone who is either overly stressed or overwhelmed with their present situation in life. Dungy can make even the most dire situation manageable his approach should be a welcome change for anyone.

I always believe in stating how the book could have improved. I did find it a bit of a grind as Dungy chronicled nearly every season he was a coach. I found myself craving his underlying message more than describing his won/loss record. Regardless, I enjoyed the book thoroughly and would recommend it to anyone. Especially someone who is curious about understanding religion more.

September 14, 2009: This book I have recommended to several family members and friends. It is truly inspirational. Offers encouragement to face life's challenges and lets you know that some situations are temporary, and you can get through the ups and downs if you believe in the course of action you are pursuing and the "game plan." With Jesus working for you, you can accomplish your goals and dreams at just the right time. This book offers wisdom; determination; intrigue; and so much more that I just enjoyed reading it. You probably will enjoy it as well, even if you are not into football. You may feel like cheering as you read through the pages. Favorable review: Uplifting, inspirational, and great reading.
