March 23, 2009: There are not many books on the subject of Tibetan energy arts. This one is the most clearly written, down-to-earth presentations on the essentials of this art. The author is very lighthearted about his own stature as an important lineage holder of this ancient tradition. Given his background and the depth of his knowledge, he is very unassuming in the way he offers you a complete freedom of choice regarding the ways to move, breathe, or the spiritual aspects of the Qi Dao system. I really appreciate his "coaching" approach to teaching that is so different from the formalistic methods of many teachers with less trust in their students.
Having some experience with other Qigong styles, I have to rate this system as the most accessible and meaningful for me as an American learning a foreign spiritual discipline. Lama Tantrapa has a great command of the English language and even suggests learning Qi Dao as though learning another language: first - the alphabet; second - creating words out of letters; third - forming sentences out of words, etc. Very logical and straight forward. Most Qigong teachers have yet to learn how to communicate so eloquently and clearly. As a perennial student of Qigong and Internal Martial Arts, I wish I had learned about this work before I started studying under other masters. However, Lama Tantrapa does not seem to worry about allegiances and shares freely with those who study other systems as well. I found his Basic Qi Dao Home Study Course is particularly valuable in terms of providing a multimedia presentation of his work through books, audio and video materials as well as a workbook that brakes the program into manageable weekly practices. In conclusion, I wish to recommend this book to both the beginners on the path of Qigong as well as the seasoned practitioners with years of experience.Reader Rating:

February 13, 2009:
Lama Tantra is excellent in explaining the details of this family tradition of a powerful and energetic form of Qigong. This appears to come from an ancient shamanic tradition, and has never been explained in this manner on in this detail outside of personal training with the Master himself.
We are very fortunate to have this insight shared in a clear and precise manner. This has helped me to integrate my personal Qigong practice at a deeper level.
