Synopsis

Gorgeous. Popular.

Perfect. Perfectly wrong.

Tally has finally become pretty. Now her looks are beyond perfect, her clothes are awesome, her boyfriend is totally hot, and she's completely popular. It's everything she's ever wanted.

But beneath all the fun -- the nonstop parties, the high-tech luxury, the total freedom -- is a nagging sense that something's wrong. Something important. Then a message from Tally's ugly past arrives. Reading it, Tally remembers what's wrong with pretty life, and the fun stops cold.

Now she has to choose between fighting to forget what she knows and fighting for her life -- because the authorities don't intend to let anyone with this information survive.

Publishers Weekly

Tally, the star of Uglies by Scott Westerfeld (which PW said, "raises thought- provoking issues") is now one of the Pretties, thanks to an operation that everyone from Uglyville gets when they turn 16, and which makes them gorgeous. In this sequel, a letter Tally discovers from her "former" self raises disturbing questions about what else may have occurred during the procedure. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

September 03, 2008: I absolutely loved Uglies and started Pretties right away. The beginning does kind of start kinda slow but it does get more interesting if you read further. Oh man did the ending seriously surprise me and I was like oh crap. Shay is now starting to creep me out and believe me its like one minute she's all happy and the next she's a completely different person (guess that's what being a Pretty does to ya). This is the story of Tally as a pretty as she tries to remember what it was she was supposed to do and someone from her past contacts her to remind her and meets another pretty called Zane. I totally recommend all the books but not sure about Extras...yet. Scott Westerfeld is an awesome writer.
