November 24, 2009: This workbook is arranged from very simple basics to the more complex. It addresses most musical theory topics in a concise manner, and has a review every 4th lesson. Good balance too. It's probably going to be more helpful as a fairly thorough review rather than something for the complete beginner, though, because there are some rules she missed that really need to be known. There are also a few mistakes in the typing of instructions, etc., but it doesn't really detract from its value in content.

July 26, 2009: I've found this book useful for someone who already has some music background. There are a few places I've found that it will pull in a term or ask you to do something not covered in the lessons that requires some previous knowledge or experience reading music. I took some piano as a child and read music in choir, so it was a good level for me. I just wanted to learn more about rhythms and chords, it has been helpful that way.
