This book should be required reading and a starting point for anyone seriously interested in Islam and the Crusades. Were the Crusaders perfect - No, but they were trying to recapture Christian lands. Muslims had already invaded Europe by the sword which was how Islam was spread throughout. Islam has lead to opression and misery everyone it has spread. Look at the global issues today. Islam is in the center of most. It doesn't coexist well anywhere when it builds enmasse. I know too many people that have left their country because of Islam. Does that make all Muslims bad - absolutely not. Unfortunately education in the US has too much of a PC influence and doesn't provide a balanced approach to many subjects. This one included. This book may not be perfect, but it is definetely an eye-opener. Islam and the Koran are not built on the same moral code as Christianity. Read it, observe Muslim behavior worldwide. Islam is built on power, intolerance, and the subjegation of women and non-beliviers. I am not a scholar of Islam, but I am capable of observing Islamic societies. Mr. Spencer doesn't have his facts refuted. Research him and discover only his credibility is attacked. Not his research and information presented.

The novel is not at all based in honestly presented information. Robert Spencer presents classically misinformed Islamophobic statements. On the cover he claims 'The Crusades were defensive conflicts.' Perfectly true, yet he neglects to mention that the Muslims were the defenders, who were defending their holy sites from Christian invaders. He also says 'Islam's doctrine teaches that Muslims must invade and conquer non-Muslim states.' Again, perfectly true. Yet do religious adherents, aside from extremists, maintain that every aspect of a religion must be followed to it's word? Christianity maintains that all non-Christians are sent straight to Hell, and that Christians must convert in the interests of the souls of other people. Intriguing. Again on the cover alone, he states that Muslim persecution of Christians has endured for 13 centuries and still does. Again, perfectly true. But are you really, honestly trying to tell me that they are alone in this? That Islam is the biggest, baddest faith and other religions are innocent victims of their harsh and fanatical jihadist policy? Get over yourself. Christian persecution of Jews has continued for two millenia, far outstripping Muslim persecution of other faiths, starting when the Romans put Jesus on the cross and the Jews were scapegoated for it. The faith Spencer criticizes he either knows little about or is willfully obscuring facts and not presenting similarities between the faith he criticizes and the faith he champions Christianity.
