    Synopsis

Every girl can be a princess wuth the Pink Princess Cookbook! Budding queens everywhere can rescue themselves from snacktime boredom right from the kitchens of their very own castles with special recipes that focus on the flavors and themes every princess will love.

    Children's Literature

Not a chance the boys will touch this one! It is pink from cover to cover and strictly for princesses who will enjoy recipes in chapters titled "Perfect Princess Cakes and Cookies" (nine entries); "Magical Princess Finger Foods" (seven); "Fairy Princess Breads" (four); "Sweetest Princess Treats" (five); and "Sparkling Princess Drinks" (five) plus an "Index." Stunning photographs grace almost every page, and recipes are artfully presented on pastel pages, including ingredients and directions. This decidedly girl-oriented book would even be a great gift for those older-type princesses or even Sweet Potato Queens. Recipes are often based on off-the-shelf ingredients and refrigerator-ready biscuits and pie crusts, but also include fresh fruit and yogurt. One of the most clever recipes is for fortune cookies made from ready-made pie crust folded and then folded again to encase the recipe, then heavy on the sugar sprinkles and silver-balls. Barbara Beery is also the author of Batter Up Kids: Delicious Desserts and Batter Up Kids: Sensational Snacks which are based on her Batter Up Kids children's cooking school in Austin, Texas, where she teaches cooking classes, hosts birthday parties, and helps kids get hands-on cooking experience.

October 10, 2009: My six-year-old daughter loves to choose her favorite recipe of the week and make it together. It's only right that a princess eat princess food.

March 10, 2009: I purchased this for my then 2 year old daughter, she's three now. I didn't buy it for its nutritional value although there are a few good for you recipes in the book. I purchased it simply because my daughter loves to help me cook and she's loves princesses. I wanted a book that she could help me do most of the cooking. This is the book. She can do everything in the book even at 2. Many books I considered the parent must to most of the work. This book would be great for a princess party or a tea party. We haven't done that. I let her pick out a recipe, we go to the store to buy the ingredients, if we don't have them, and then we set out to cook. There is everything from drinks, to cake and fruit cups, and fairy wands. Its a perfect cookbook if you want your child to experience cooking without a lot of adult help. The only draw back is the cake on the cover. I had to explain that the crown didn't come with the cake or magically appear. But it could if I could find one where we live.
