      Synopsis

Acclaimed storyteller Katherine Paterson breathes new life into this classic tale of action, adventure, and romance. Raised in the wilderness, Parzival knows nothing of his destiny as the Grail Knight—the one who is fated to seek the sacred vessel of hope and eternal life. To succeed in his quest, Parzival must struggle against countless obstacles. His triumphant story is one that will move readers to joy and despair, laughter and tears.

Two-time Newbery Medalist and National Book Award Winner, Katherine Paterson is the acclaimed author of Jip, His Story and most recently, Preacher's Boy (Clarion). She lives in Barre, Vermont.

      Annotation

A retelling of the Arthurian legend in which Parzival, unaware of his noble birth, comes of age through his quest for the Holy Grail.

      Molly E. Rauch

Readers already entranced by Arthurian legends will enjoy this one....Paterson slips in wonderful details about the conventions of the time. -- New York Times Book Review

March 28, 2001: I thought that Parzival was a very strange book. Events that seemed very important were usually said in one sentence. The story was good though. I was curious about Parzival age, I was never sure whether he was 12, 16 or 30? There is a small amount of violence which is very briefly talked about, so I suggest that only peoople 11 and older read this book.
