Synopsis

A novel about holding on, letting go, and learning to love again.

Now in paperback, the endearing novel that captured readers' hearts and introduced a fresh new voice in women's fiction — Cecelia Ahern.

Holly couldn't live without her husband Gerry, until the day she had to. They were the kind of young couple who could finish each other's sentences. When Gerry succumbs to a terminal illness and dies, 30-year-old Holly is set adrift, unable to pick up the pieces. But with the help of a series of letters her husband left her before he died and a little nudging from an eccentric assortment of family and friends, she learns to laugh, overcome her fears, and discover a world she never knew existed.

The kind of enchanting novel with cross-generational appeal that comes along once in a great while, PS, I Love You is a captivating love letter to the world!

Cecelia Ahern, the 22-year-old daughter of Ireland's prime minister, holds a degree in Journalism and Media Communications. She has completed her second novel, Rosie Dunne, and is at work on her third. She lives in Dublin, Ireland.

July 01, 2009: The one big thing that made me wake up to was how it would effect me if my spouse was to die, I am a very lucky girl to have the man I have, but I don't appreciate him as much as I should weve been together for over 20 years and this book made me realize a few things about myself.

As for the story line It was heartbreaking and I couldnt stop myself from crying through much of it. There was the deep friendship with her girlfriends you knew they really cared about each other, one thing disturbing was how selfish she was when good things where happening to them and she did not and could not be happy for them after all the support and guidence that they had given her. I really liked the brother Richard who came thru for her when she least expected it, and how his character became messed with hers. And how they ended up bonding thru all there tourmoil. It was overall a good read and our book club really had a good time with it, after we read the book we watched the movie and then discussed the differences, it was very enjoyable on several levels.

I Also Recommend: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Child 44, A Thousand Splendid Suns.

June 30, 2009: I at first had only seen the movie version of this book and I fell in love with it, so I thought I would try the book out and see if it was just as good. Well, its better! You have to approach the book and movie differently because the characters are slightly different, but they are all still so loveable. It is one of my new favorite books, and I recommend anyone who loved the movie to read the book (and visa versa), you won't be disappointed.
