Synopsis

There will be three,
Kin of you kin....
Who hold the
Power of the stars
In their paws.

A secret prophecy shapes the lives of Firestar's grandchildren, but only one of the three knows about it. Jaypaw is captivated by the power it promises, and he believes the key to that power may lie buried in the distant past -- with the ancient cats who once walked these woods and now prowl through his dreams. His search for answers leads him toward the mountains -- the home of the Tribe of Rushing Water. Lionpaw and Hollypaw feel drawn to the mountains too, for different reasons.

But the mountains hide secrets as well as answers, and if the three cats find a way to get there, they may discover more than they ever expected.

Children's Literature

Jaypaw, the young medicine cat apprentice of the ThunderClan, has heard a mysterious prophecy: "There will be three, kin of your kin, who will hold the power of the stars in their paws." Is it possible this refers to Jaypaw and his two siblings, Hollypaw and Lionpaw? When two cats from the Tribe of Rushing Water come to ThunderClan to plead for help in fighting off intruders whose depredations have reduced this mountain-dwelling tribe to a subsistence existence, Jaypaw and his siblings hope to join the warriors who agree to aid the Rushing Water cats. Perhaps the distant mountains hold secrets that will show Jaypaw what the prophecy means. More than 300 pages later, there are no answers; the prophecy remains a mystery. Obviously, it has been left unresolved to pique readers' interest in the next sure-to-be-coming-soon volume. There is an overwhelming confusion of cats and clans, their roles and allegiances as well as repeated references to significant past events. Perhaps readers who have been fans from the beginning and have read the earlier books in this series can keep track of everyone and everything. If you are a potential fan of feline fantasy, it is highly recommended that you start with the first books in the series. Erin Hunter is actually the pen name for three women who work and write for Working Partners, a team of editors who create and develop new series fiction for children and teenagers. Book three in the "Warriors: Power of Three" series. Reviewer: Anita Barnes Lowen

July 23, 2008: Okay just because Jaypaw doesn't look like Brambleclaw or Squirrelflight doesnt mean that thier not the parents!(I'm not crazy dont worry.the things i'm about to say are just to make it seemlike i'm talking through a Clan leaders eyes. the cats i'm going to mention are real but these aren't their real names. not real names because i'm making it seem like a Clan.)A cat in my Clan,Blackpelt, and her mate Twigwhisker had four lovely kits.Blackpelt is pure black and Twigwhisker is tabby with white paws and is white from chest to belly.None of their kits look exactly like them. Their first kit,Bluepaw(male), is a blue-gray cat with the most handsome face and he's very muscular.Their second and third,Nightpaw(male) and Lilypaw(female), are pure tabby, and they look nothing like their parents! They get their tabby gene from their grandmother,my deputy,Dawneyes. And their final kit,Rosepaw(female),is light grey with white paws and a white chest to belly! So just because Jaypaw,Hollypaw, and to some of you Lionpaw don't look like thier parents doesn't mean their not their kits it can be ancesteral genes.I'm not saying there not a chance their Leafpool and Crowfeather's but I,Foxstar(female),speaking for my Clan!!So think about it! Members of my Clan: Deputy:Dawneyes(female) MedicineCat:Softstripes(male) medicine cat apr.:Lilypaw9female) Warriors:Moonspot(male) Blackpelt(female) Cloudfur(female)apr.:Nightpaw(male) Squirrelheart( female)apr.:Rosepaw(female) Twigwhisker(male)apr.:Bluepaw(male) (these are not the cats' real names but they are real cats.I changed there kittypet names to warrior names to go with my review. this story is also true.)
