May 05, 2006: Not well written but offers a unique and personal view of prejudices and early California/U.S. history. See's grandmother (or greatgrandmother-can't remember, it's been a while since i read it) must have been a fascinating and strong female in a time when women were not expected to be smart, opinionated or strong-willed.
