    Synopsis

At first, Travis couldn't stand the sight of Old Yeller

The stray dog was ugly, and a thieving rascal, too. But he sure was clever, and a smart dog could be a big help on the wild Texas frontier, especially with Papa away on a long cattle drive up to Abilene.

Strong and courageous, Old Yeller proved that he could protect Travis's family from any sort of danger. But can Travis do the same for Old Yeller?

    Saturday Review of Literature

A bestseller for generations, the combination of excellent writing and the sensitivity to human emotions places it on a shelf with the classics in juvenile literature.

November 11, 2009: I liked this book a lot. I didn't like the ending - very sad, but it was realistic. Some of the words and phrases in the book were a little hard to understand, but they were written in more of an old ranch style, so it's not like it's supposed to be modern, proper English. Overall, though, great book, and a not-quite-so-predictable plot line.

October 20, 2009: I hate reading! Hate it! I had the who quarter to read it and waited until 10 before it was due! But I think the book maybe just maybe changed my mind. I hated the ending; I didn't under stand all the words, and fell asleep in the middle of a chapter. But I found out that if I had a bad attitude it was going to be bad book. But after chapter 12 or so. I could not put it down! My mom didn't have to beg me to read, I wanted to read!

But then when the book was over . . . I got bored! I had nothing to do. Mom said I couldn't get on the phone or on the computer until the book was over. I'm back on the computer and I got bored. But anyway the book was ok I gave it 2 stars I didn't like it that much, but it kept me occupied
