      Synopsis

Numerology is the art and science of interpreting how numbers influence our lives and destinies. Over 2,000 years ago, Pythagoras, the father of geometry, believed the key to understanding the universe was concealed in the science of numbers. By identifying and interpreting their hidden meaning and symbolism, one can gain insights into the past, present, and future. Today, numbers continue to hold a special place in our lives—birth dates, anniversaries, and, of course, our own personal "lucky" numbers. By studying your own unique set of numbers, you have within your grasp the tools to identify and examine the inherent and powerful forces that influence your life and the lives of those around you.

Through a fresh and exciting left-brain/right-brain approach to this intriguing subject, famed numerologist and author Ruth A. Drayer has written Numerology—a clear, concise guide for understanding and implementing this fascinating subject. Written for both the beginner as well as the more advanced student, the book begins with a history of numerology, tracing its roots to ancient Egypt and Greece. Ms. Drayer then proceeds to examine the fundamentals of this science, discussing the importance of free will, names, and birthdays along with the relevance of odd, even, and attainment numbers.

Through the use of diagrams and easy-to-follow instructions, she guides you into constructing your personal numerological chart. Through the observation and understanding of your own unique numbers, you have the precious opportunity to gain greater insight into the nature of your personality—the shortcomings as well as the qualities—with the objective of gaining command in all areas in your life. Numerology provides all of the tools you will need to achieve this goal.

      Library Journal

In this gem of a book for both beginners and intermediate students, Drayer, who has practiced numerology for more than 30 years, presents a history and how-to on her subject. In the first part, she posits that numbers are not simply numbers but symbols of truth and points out that Pythagoras brought forth this idea 2500 years ago. Ever since, all the letters of the world's alphabets have been assigned corresponding numbers, and our birth names and dates, once converted to numbers, can tell us a lot about ourselves. Offered then are simple step-by-step instructions for making a chart, combined with profound depth-of-meaning in the numbers. She explains very well how to put all the pieces of information together so that readers can get to know themselves more deeply as well as seek guidance in making everyday decisions. Drayer makes it clear that while she provides excellent explanations for each digit, intuition plays a big part in her professional life. With a full glossary, blank charts, and a good index, this book will make a strong addition to parapsychology collections.-Marija Sanderling, Nesmith Lib., Windham, NH Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.

November 13, 2004: I have always wanted to try my hand at numerology.I tried before with several other books, but the subject was confusing. Ms. Drayer's book explains the subject in such a way that it is not as complicated as I had encountered before. She has a natural knack for explaining this to the novice. Her book doesn't leave you hanging, but explains in detail the meaning of numbers in our lives. Thanks Ms. Drayer!
