    Biography

    Florence Nightingale was born to British parents in 1820 in Florence, Italy.   She was a social reformer as well as a nurse, but it was her service to British soldiers during the Crimean War that brought her well-deserved fame. She died at the aged of ninety on 13 August 1910.
