This is one of three books I bought when working on a new and significantly more complex design for my personal company website. I liked this one for it's discussion of colors, layout, work with graphics, and also for some step by step instructions on how to use photoshop to make graphics display better.
If you think web design is beyond your reach, or if you want your existing web site to look more professional, this thoroughly updated classic is the place to turn! In these pages, best-selling authors Robin Williams and John Tollett share the creative ideas, useful techniques, and basic design principles that are essential to great Web design-all in the context of the most current technology, software, and standards. Throughout, the authors' aim is to inspire you and spark your creativity rather than sedate you with pages and pages of code. To that end, you'll find loads of real-world examples, interesting illustrations, and the simple instructions you need to implement the techniques and concepts described in these pages.
Explains basics in a non-intimidating style and an easy-to-follow format, offering tips, techniques, color design examples, and inspiration as well as numerous examples of what to avoid. Williams has written many books for computer users on design, desktop publishing, and digital technology. Tollett spent 30 years working as an illustrator, art director, and designer before changing paths from print media to the Web. This second edition is updated to include current web technology, new software tips, and design ideas for both novices and professionals. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
