The uptown girls are headed downtown as Serena and Jenny take on their new fabulous roles as rock-star model girlfriends of New York's hottest band, The Raves. Meanwhile, Dan is to busy drowning his sorrows in empty bottles to notice a mysterious French beauty who has a penchant for dirty, Jim Morrison-wannabe lead singers. Blair takes residence at the Plaza to think about her future. Will she become a gun-toting international spy or Manhattan's snobbiest society hostess? Decisions are so difficult! Sounds like everyone needs a day off at the spa. And Senior Spa Day promises to serve up further doses of scandal for New York's busiest private-school vixens.
The "princesses and princes of New York's Upper East Side" prepare to graduate high school in the seventh volume of the flashy and trashy Gossip Girl series. As they try to determine their future courses, these golden girls and boys spend their time partying, hooking up, and shopping. Blair, still on the waitlist for Yale, checks into the Plaza Hotel to escape her family's chaotic penthouse. She is also hoping to spend time with Nate, her on-again, off-again boyfriend, but he has wandered off to Bermuda in a stoner haze. While Dan tries his hand at the rock-star lifestyle, his little sister Jenny is hanging with the band and trying her best to get sent to boarding school. Vanessa is tempted to invite an artistic type to live with her in (gasp!) Brooklyn. And Serena floats through life, not sure where she is going, but confident that she looks fabulous doing it. This series is near-perfect trash-lite, a fun, fluffy read with all the elements that make the genre so enjoyable: sex with pretty people, drugs and drink, lots of drama, and lots of shopping. The protagonists might get into trouble as they traipse from party to penthouse, but their cocoon of wealth and privilege cushions them from the more serious bruises that such behavior might cause in the real world. Readers ranging from young teens to women in their twenties and thirties will be clamoring for the next installment-a must-have addition to the series. VOYA CODES: 3Q 4P S (Readable without serious defects; Broad general YA appeal; Senior High, defined as grades 10 to 12). 2005, Little Brown, 229p., Trade pb. Ages 15 to 18.

June 09, 2009: My name is Lou. I go to Holt High School; I'm doing a book review for my 10th grade English class. I read the book Gossip Girl: Nobody Does it Better by Cecily Von Ziegesar. I started reading the Gossip Girl books in 9th grade and haven't been able to put them down sense. Nobody Does It Better is the 7th book of the series and so far it's been my favorite. This series stays with the same main characters: Serena, Blair, Jenny, Dan, Vanessa, and Nate, as the make their way through their last semester of their senior year in high school. They live in Upper East side Manhattan, with the wealthiest people, so they are constantly out doing extravagant things with their friends that most people could only dream of.
Nobody Does It Better is about a senior girls trip that all the girls in the senior class want to take to one of their friend's homes. Also in this book, Nate and Blair finally rekindle their love that they have had with each other off and on sense they were young. Their relationship is anything but perfect; they still have all their rocky moments. Jenny and Serena do a modeling shoot together and Jenny gets a lot of positive feedback about it. Jenny is a freshman trying to find herself as goes through a lot of ups and downs while doing this. After all the publicity she gets when she is found modeling with the well-known goddess Serena. She tries to pursue her reputation of being a rock star by being a groupie of a rock star group. As the seniors take their trip across seas on Nate's boat they don't expect there to be as many surprises that they come across. When Serena and Blair, two best friends get to the house where they are staying for vacation they go to the steam room where they are talking about how excited they are to get to the next chapters of their life. Just then Blair sees her stepbrother who snuck in. But he comes bearing gifts. He has Blair's acceptance letter to Yale, a school she has wanted to get in ever sense she was little. When she goes to tell Serena that the letter finally came, she finds her in the bathroom with another surprise that isn't so good. This book left me wondering what is going to happen next every time I had to put it down. I never wanted to stop reading because there are so many characters and story lines it's impossible to get bored. Every character has a story of their own. This book is likeable for almost anyone because of all the different things that go on it. Mostly this book would be good for teen girls, it's a teen romance and teen life book. I would give this book 5 stars. If you liked the Clique books this is an awesome book to start reading after, but it is a little bit of an older read.I Also Recommend: The Luxe (Luxe Series #1), It's Not Easy Being Mean (Clique Series #7), Nothing Can Keep Us Together (Gossip Girl Series #8), I'd Tell You I Love You, but Then I'd Have to Kill You (Gallagher Girls Series #1), Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy Series #1).
