Synopsis

When the first bullet hit my chest, I thought of my daughter...
Dr. Marc Seidman has been shot twice, his wife has been murdered, and his six-month-old daughter has been kidnapped. When he gets the ransom note-he knows he has only one chance to get this right. But there is nowhere he can turn and no one he can trust.

The New York Times

True, that proclivity for self-analysis promises a story paced like downhill molasses. But this time Mr. Coben's plotting skills are in vigorous form, and he has devised a cleverly intricate scheme surrounding Tara's disappearance. Though he specializes in missing persons and mixed-up identities, to the point where his previous two thrillers (Tell No One and Gone for Good) had some overlap, the nimble and ingenious No Second Chance has a life of its own. — Janet Maslin

October 07, 2008: This is the first Harlan Coben book I've ever read. I've read most of his other books because I enjoyed this one so much.

There are many twists along the way which will make it hard to put the book down once you start.

If you enjoy a good thriller, give this book a try.

I Also Recommend: Tell No One.

July 18, 2005: Having only recently discovered Harlan Coben, I feel so lucky that there are 9 other Harlan Coben novels that I've yet to read. After reading Just One Look, I became a fan and now I'm completely hooked. In No Second Chance, the reader becomes caught up in Marc Seidman's living nightmare. His infant daughter, Tara, has been kidnapped and his wife, murdered. There's no time for Marc to mourn the death of his wife. The kidnappers want two million dollars in exchange for his child and they've warned him not to bring the police or there will be no second chance to see his daugter alive. I found myself fighting sleep trying to find out 'who dunnit' and only stopped reading when my eyes refused to continue focusing. Whew! What a thriller. The ending is surprising and I can't say I would have made the choice Seidman ultimately made regarding his daughter, but you'll have to read it to see if you agree.
