    Synopsis

Created for the dieter who would rather follow science than the latest fad or celebrity, this book synthesizes years of research to present one dependable weight loss plan that really works. Using a combination of consistently proven diet and exercise strategies that require no special props or aids, readers are shown reliable ways to get weight off and keep it off. Information on calculating calorie needs, determining BMI (body mass index), and working out percentages of fats, carbs, and proteins in a diet are offered. The author leaves nothing to hypothesis, giving the truth about cellulite and how to tell when one's weight is a health risk. Fact is better than fiction where successful weight-loss is concerned and this book delivers all the scientific findings concisely in a convenient format.

July 02, 2005: If you know someone who has read all the diet books or tried every weight loss plan out there- but still isn't quite where they want to be- then this is their book. Supported by an impressive reference section in the back of the book, 'The No-Beach, No-Zone, No-Nonsense Weight Loss Plan' does a good job of setting the record straight when it comes to exercising and dieting to lose weight. It does this by essentially taking the reader on a personal 'guided tour' through the weight loss literature and reveals once and for all what has really been proven to work, and what is simply hype and a waste of your time- all in very understandable language. A detailed diet and exercise plan follows. An easy and fun read, I would suggest it most of all to the person who has tried all the popular ways to lose weight and still desires better results.

February 12, 2005: A rare find among the bazillions of weight loss books available these days. Probably the only weight loss book you'll ever read whose strategies to lose weight come directly from what the author calls 'controlled trials.' Here's a little of what you'll find: Chapter 1- busts all the popular myths about weight loss (talk about an eye-opener) Chapter 2- a good chapter that tells you the key to getting yourself motivated and staying motivated to lose weight (the best plan in the world is useless if its never carried out as the book says) Chapter 3- discusses the truth about diet and exercise as ways to lose weight- all according to what the scientific literature says (it could save you a lot of trial and error time) Chapter 4 and Chapter 5- the exercise and diet plans that have proven to work in long term weight loss studies Chapter 6- reviews the literature that has studied people who have successfully lost weight and kept it off-- their secrets Chapter 7- how to put the whole program together, what to do in the long run (shows how to use the program successfully for the rest of your life- the book is not just a quick fix) All in all this is a great book, and is worth every penny.
