The !Kung makes you appriciate everything in your life. It made me realize that I am so blessed to have everything; food on the table, music to listen to. !Kung is an interesting look at the life and culture of someone half way around the world; it made me open my eyes to the reality that some people are not as fortunate and some ideas are not the same.

This book will help one appreciate what one has. I couldn't put the book down. This book was required for a cultural anthropology class, I am glad the professor chose this book, Nisa is neat. The life of the !Kung is one that I could never have imagined ever existed.

Shostak wrote a great ethnography over the like of the Kung. It's along the lines of an autobgraphy from Nisa herself along with helpful insight from Shostak. I highly recommend people to read this.
It is the story of Nisa, a member of the !Kung hunter-gatherer people of southern Africa's Kalahari desert, told in her own words -- earthy, emotional, vivid -- to Marjorie Shostak, an American ethnographer. Together, these two women break through immense barriers of language and culture to give us a fascinating view of a remarkable life.
