    Synopsis

I FELT LIKE I WAS TRAPPED IN ONE OF THOSE TERRIFYING NIGHTMARES…
For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning. . . .
Legions of readers entranced by the New York Times bestseller Twilight are hungry for the continuing story of star-crossed lovers Bella and Edward. In New Moon, Stephenie Meyer delivers another irresistible combination of romance and suspense with a supernatural spin. Passionate, riveting, and full of surprising twists and turns, this vampire love saga is well on its way to literary immortality.

    Publishers Weekly

Not since TV's Buffy "the Vampire Slayer" Summers battled demons in the halls of Sunnydale High has a teenager faced the number of monsters that Bella Swan does in Meyer's melodramatic sequel to Twilight. Bella's vampire boyfriend Edward and his unusual clan are joined by an ancient pack of werewolves-also with connections to Bella-in a story that's got romance, adventure, thrills and even a quick detour to Italy. Thanks to Kadushin's (who also read Twilight) consistently smooth delivery and her plausibility as a teen navigating heartbreak, hormones and confusion, listeners are likely to hang on for the many fever-pitch moments of suspense here, even if the lengthy tale could have used some pruning. November 24, 2009: New Moon by Stephenie Meyers is part of the twilight series. It's the second book in the series following Twilight. The main character, Bella, has to deal with her boyfriend moving and leaving her behind, but she doesn't know how to even begin living without him by her side. Bella was a hopeless wreck, until she reunites with her childhood friend, Jacob, who makes her forget about the pain of her old vampire boyfriend, Edward. Bella soon figures out that Jacob is a vampire's worst enemy, a werewolf. When Edward gets misled into believing that Bella is dead, he seeks for the most powerful vampires in the world, to kill him because he "can't stand to live in a world where (Bella) doesn't exist." Bella and Edward's 'sister' set off on a journey across the world to stop Edward and make him believe that Bella really is still alive. When they return with Edward still alive, Bella has to choose between vampire or werewolf.

The major theme in this book is dealing with pain and the hard struggle to move on. Bella has to learn to forget about her past so she can start living life again. However, it takes her a long time to finally begin the search for happiness, starting with Jacob.

I liked the descriptions because they brought the characters and surroundings to life. The writing came to life and it felt like I was watching the entire book play out right in front of me. However, I didn't like the confusing nature of some sections. If I didn't pay attention to every little detail and fact, it was easy to get confused and not know what was going on. I also didn't like the slow start, but after a while it started to pick up and be more interesting.

If you like different fiction topics, you will like this very interesting and creative subject matter. Of course, if you like this book, you will probably like the others in the series. This is the only series of books I've read that are similar to the topics and themes of New Moon.

My overall rating for this story is a five out of five star rating. I loved the need for a strong imagination and how the writer really pulls me into the story. I felt like I had known the characters for years and was very connected to them.

November 23, 2009: I was a fan of Twilight and re-read it several times. But this second in the series is even better. I love all the characters, and I can really understand Bella's emotions more fully in New Moon. Stephanie Meyer is an outstanding writer!

I Also Recommend: Born of Fire (League Series #2), Submissive.
