I bought this book because of the reviews and I was not disappointed. I was drawing better than I ever had by the end of day one. People were complementing my drawings by the end of day five I finished the book in seven days and the results are amazing. Go to Barnes and Noble and look at the before after drawings on pages 19 and 20. They are not exaggerations I got similar results and in some cases my drawings were better. Keep in mind that those improvements came in just five days. People would tell me that all you need to do to get better at drawing is practice but after practicing and getting no results I was discouraged. First you need this book then all you need is practice.

I bought this book as a requirement for a drawing class I was taking. I actually learned how to draw with this book!! I recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn to draw! AIO

A great teacher

I studied with Betty Edwards at Cal State Long Beach in the 1980s and it was an amazing class. We all went from drawing small and timidly to large and confidently, in addition to learning how to tap into our innate creativity. I've been missing that creativity lately and wanted to buy her old book, but was overjoyed to find it's been updated. You cannot go wrong in buying this book.

This book singlehandedly gave me the foundation for the confidence to draw, and draw well within a month. The excercises are easy to follow, and the author has provided the psychological tools to help anyone draw with confidence. From the time I began reading to the time I finished the last excercise the results were astounding. I'd highly recommend it for anyone interested in drawing to use this book.

Also recommended: 'How to Draw Textures in Pencil' by J.D. Hilberry.

Worth it's weight in pure gold

I'm 40 years old. A few weeks ago I could not draw to save my life. Then this book came and changed all that. I'm only half way through it and I am totally confounded by what this book has taught me. It has brought joy into my life that I simply thought was not possible. It is like I was blind and now I can see. If you think you cannot draw, this book will change your mind forever.
