Synopsis

Using outstanding anatomical illustrations from Netter's hugely popular Atlas of Human Anatomy, these 324 flash cards help you learn and test your knowledge of muscles, bones, vessels, viscera and the joints. Each card features a full-color Netter illustration on the front, while concise text on the back reviews areas of origin, insertion, action, innervation, and anatomical relevance. A regional organization parallels Netter's atlas as well as most of today's anatomy courses. The cards also note clinical correlations, where appropriate.

  • References the original plate in Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy.
  • Offers an accurate source of anatomical information in an easy-to-use, portable format.
  • Cards are hole-punched in the upper left corner and can be placed on the included ring for maximum portability.
  • Online access available through www.studentconsult.com.

Reviewer:David W. Brzezinski, MD (University of Michigan Medical School)
Description:This set of 4" x 6" flashcards of regional anatomy is essentially a compilation of plates from Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy, 4th edition (Elsevier, 2006) meant to succinctly summarize human anatomy for students. The first edition was published in 2002.
Purpose:The purpose is to supplement anatomy textbooks or atlases. After students have studied a certain region of human anatomy, these flashcards allow them to further master the material. Such a resource is definitely needed in a discipline as complicated and visually driven as anatomy. The flashcards are an astounding asset for studying.
Audience:This resource will likely be used by students in all areas of the healthcare professions. Netter's atlases are used by many students, and it is likely that students using his other texts will want to purchase these. They are a phenomenal way to review important material.
Features:The anatomy of the entire human body is covered, and the cards show a numbered image on one side, with a corresponding labeled key on the reverse. The labeled side also contains a concise description of the pertinent anatomy as well as useful clinical information, where applicable. Anyone who has attempted to master the medical sciences knows how important and useful flashcards can be. Not only can students test their knowledge, they can also learn relevant details unavailable in standard atlases. The cards are easy to read and the images are well chosen and very crisp. They are large enough to reveal important details, but are small enoughto put in one's book bag for study virtually anywhere. The anatomic descriptions are concise and high-yield. One could only hope that future editions will have thicker lamination on the cards since it seems that these will enjoy much use!
Assessment:These useful flashcards will undoubtedly help thousands of eager learners. They are of the highest quality and very practical. Not only will they help students during their courses, they will also help them review for the national boards. They would supplement any text or atlas that the student uses. I only wish these had been available when I was a medical student.

April 27, 2009: I received the cards in the mail, and the tops of the cards were totally bent and folded. Other than that the cards were very helpful.

February 18, 2009: I am taking a online course for Medical Coding and do not have a text book. The cards have made all the difference in the word. I don't have a extensive medical background but the cards are easy to understand but fully relate to the material that is given in the course. I am going to try to get the other flash cards for different medical areas that are being covered to help me understand those. I recomend these cards HIGHLY for anyone just starting out in the medical field.
