    Synopsis

This acclaimed primer explains it all--from the particulars of the ritual and symbols, to the history and theology behind it.

    Library Journal

Champlin, a widely published Catholic author and rector of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse, NY, has written an extremely able, clear, and well-informed guide to the modern Catholic Mass. As much instruction in faith as how-to, this highly competent work should attract Catholic and non-Catholic readers alike. For collections strong in religion. December 28, 2000: It is my personal belief that if one is to truly appreciate the Mass, he/she must understand its meaning, history, movements, and symbols. This book by Fr. Champlin accomplishes the thirst of many Catholics to better know this 'Sunday Routine.' He goes through the history and development of the Mass and makes colorful comparisons and contrasts between the old Latin Mass and our current Mass. If you are an Altar Server or Coordinator or Sacristan or Minister, this is a MUST for you!
