    Synopsis

Caldecott Honor artist Stephen T. Johnson's new multiconcept novelty is a book and a toy in one. My Little Red Fire Truck gives practice telling time while its sturdy moving parts provide hours of fun — and allow readers to see how it would be to work on a real fire truck!

    Publishers Weekly

From the maker of My Little Red Toolbox, this dynamic book lets readers handle the care and maintenance of a fire truck. An unseen narrator takes 30 minutes each morning to make sure everything is in order, and kids can help by using a variety of movable, often removable, components. A green cardboard nozzle can be inserted into a diesel fuel tank; on another page, readers can partially unravel a yellow hose; a later spread features a driving wheel with a changeable gearshift as well as a handheld radio. The energetic, gadget-filled format provides a gratifying tactile experience. Ages 3–up. (Sept.)

September 11, 2009: Paper engineering continues to amaze, and MY LITTLE RED FIRE TRUCK is the most amazing of all. In the creative hands of Stephen T. Johnson (My Little Red Toolbox) this is not just a book but a fascinating toy that will yield hours of learning and fun.

Inside the bright red covers are 10 pop-out tools, 4 bolts and 4 wheels that really do turn and keep on turning, an erasable slate to keep track of the truck's comings and goings, an interactive radio and walkie-talkie (communication is of the utmost importance), a revolving red light (move aside the fire truck's coming!), and a fire bell that'll surprise.

Recommended for youngsters ages 3 and up the book also aids helping young eyes to tell time, and the parts are super sturdy to last through many play times.

Doesn't every child want a bright red fire truck?
