Well, it's no wonder. The plot-suspicion for an elderly woman's murder falls on her mysterious lodger-is from Agatha Christie. The wonderful character happens to be the world's most famous sleuth, Hercule Poirot.
Approached by retired police Superintendent Spence--who's convinced the wrong man has been convicted of the crime--Hercule Poirot begins an investigation into the brutal murder of an old woman.
The plot is perfect and the characters are wonderful.
More Reviews and RecommendationsAgatha Christie is nearly synonymous with upper-class British mysteries, for good reason. She set the standard for the genre in over 60 novels and dozens of short stories, also creating two classic detectives: the fastidious Belgian, Hercule Poirot, and English spinster Jane Marple. No one could match Christie's knack for weaving clues into her stories, then turning the whole thing inside out -- shocking her readers every time.

January 02, 2002: Excellent book. This was a real page turner I couldn't put it down. It was a real mystery I just couldn't wait for Poirot to let me in on 'whodunnit'. If you like other Christie books you will love this and if you like the Poirot character this is definitely a must read.
