I bought this book thinking, 'What the heck. I'll give it a try.' And I was blown away! I now own two copies of all the books out so far in this series because I read the first set enough times to make them fall apart at the seams. It trumps most books I have read by a long shot. 'Don't judge a book by it's cover' and 'first impressions are almost alway wrong' are sayings that, for me, were proved in a whole new light. The heroine was raised by 'dominant and largly male werewolves' and has always been treated like something to use when it was convenient, and ignored when inconvenient as she is a coyote shapeshifter 'NOT a were-coyoye' not tied to the moon but considered much weaker than the werewolves. The experience has toughened her up to someone to look up to: she can hold her own against the werewolf pack living next to her, has never underestimated her skill for being a woman mechanic, and is not overly confident like most characters like this would come off as. Even making the instinctive decision that shapes a large part of the book makes sense. Through Mercy's eyes the paranormal world is vivid and believable. It is one of those books where every sentence pulls the story together. Read thoroughly and it will be as good a book for you as it was for me. I guarantee it.

Also recommended: The Twilight series 'Stephenie Meyer', Heart of Stone 'C.E. Murphy', House of Cards 'C.E. Murphy', Touch the Dark 'Karen Chance', Claimed by Shadow 'Karen Chance', Embrace the Night 'Karen Chance', Hawksong 'Amelia Atwater-Rhodes', Shattered Mirror 'AA-R'

I am so glad that I bought this book. It was refreshing to find another author that doesn't base her whole series around sex with her preternatural characters. I can't wait for the Alpha and Omega series!
