    Synopsis

Serious silliness for all ages. Artist Sandra Boynton is back and better than ever with completely redrawn versions of her multi-million selling board books. These whimsical and hilarious books, featuring nontraditional texts and her famous animal characters, have been printed on thick board pages, and are sure to educate and entertain children of all ages.

Marcie Flinchum Atkins - Children's Literature

This board book is a simple book of animal sounds that allows the child to interact. It allows the child to correct the pig sounds and encourages a child to make their own noise at the end when the animals finally get quiet. Noises of cows, sheep, pigs, rhinoceroses, dogs, cats, ducks, and horses are presented. The book is written in rhyme as well, so young children will soon be able to recite the book as it is read aloud. The pictures are drawn simply in cartoon style with plain-colored backgrounds. This is a great book for very young toddlers who would enjoy learning and making the animal sounds as the book is read aloud. 2004 (orig. 1982), Little Simon, Ages 1 to 3.

One of our favorite books ever!by librarian_mom

November 24, 2008: This was one of the first books I read my now 20 year old. She can still recite the entire book, and is now buying it for kids herself. I had to buy each of her two sisters their own copies, because 1) bigger sister would not give it up, and 2) the book was falling apart. Each daughter, 20, 11, and 7, still has "her" copy on her bedroom shelf, long after the other board books were retired. We like to recite it in unison, and still giggle.

October 22, 2008: This book is a great book for preschoolers. The animals all make noises that my son loves to follow along while I read. There's rhyme and rhythm, all highlighted by the wonderful animal cartoon illustrations.

I Also Recommend: Ladybug Baby Bug.
