      Synopsis

The American soldier is why General David Petraeus's brilliant strategy of moving soldiers off isolated bases and out among the Iraqi people worked. Worked to find and kill terrorists, reclaim neighborhoods and help lead Iraq to democracy. Iraqis respect strength. They saw that American soldiers are great-hearted warriors who rejoice in killing Al Qaeda terror gangs that took over whole cities, raped too many women and boys, cut off too many heads. But Iraqis also discovered that these great warriors are even happier rebuilding a clinic, school or neighborhood. They learned from the American soldier that the most dangerous man in the world could be the best man too. - Follow the great Deuce Four battalion that became the center of a warrior cult dreaded by terrorists and revered by Iraqis. - Read about an elite Iraqi SWAT team taking down a terror cell for the murder of four American soldiers and a brave Iraqi guide. - Occupiers, not liberators? Tell that to the wounded Iraqi interpreter, who, convinced he was about to die, begged his U.S. commander to have his heart cut out and buried in America.

"...I haven't seen anything quite like the coverage in Michael Yon's dispatches from Mosul . . . a compelling narrative"

June 16, 2008: I am the mother of 2 sons with the 101st Airborne, 1-187 and 1-327, presently fighting this war on the Iraq front. There are so many people in this country who have absolutely no understanding of this conflict or the job our soldiers are asked to do on a day-to-day basis. This book is the first I have come upon to put it out there...to honor our military leadership with the truth. For anyone voting for a new president this November, you MUST read this book and educate yourself. There is no agenda here...just bare-bone facts from someone who ate, slept, lived, and fought with our Soldiers. Thank you, Michael Yon.

June 01, 2008: michael yon is a former green beret and battlefield journalist and as a former soldier he has earned the respect and honor of all the brave men and women fighting in iraq as he covers their many acts of courage in this new best seller of his 'moment of truth in iraq' .This is an amazing book cause not only does he detail the many acts of heroism that never seem to reach the media but this amazing jounalist also covers the untold acts of kindness that our troops have performed in the line of duty:building clinics and getting much needed hospital care and getting special care to the iraqi civialians. this book was very hard to put down and was very special to read cause it was writtion by someone who was really there with the troops on the front lines and not behind a desk in some far away city. great gift idea for a friend or family member or soldier serving over seas.
