      Synopsis

Teen genius Kelly James is in a lot of hot water. A whiz with computers, she agreed to help her college rA, David, uncover some top-secret information. After all, she doesn't have many friends and David has always been nice to her. it doesn't hurt that he's supercute and irresistible, too. All she has to do is hack into the government's main computer system. but a few hours later, her whole life changes. she is caught and taken in for questioning, only this isn't your run-of-the-mill arrest. rather than serve a juvenile detention sentence, she accepts the option to change her name and enlist in a secret government spy agency that trains teen agents to go undercover. As if that wasn't overwhelming enough, she discovers that David works for this agency as well! And before she even begins to understand what is going on, she's sent on her first mission as an undercover model. And who better to partner with than David himself!

      KLIATT

Sixteen-year-old Kelly's life has never really been typical. After her parents died in a plane crash when she was six, Kelly bounced around foster homes and orphanages. A computer genius, Kelly is now about to graduate from college. Since she is tall, blonde, and gorgeous, Kelly's technological skills surprise people, who tell her she doesn't look like the stereotypical computer geek. While at college, Kelly hacks into the government system, trying to find information about the father of the boy she likes, David. Her crime is quickly uncovered and she is taken into custody. It is here that she discovers that David had been sent to recruit Kelly for The Specialists, a team of young adults who excel in different areas. The government will train them, give them new identities, and then send them to do undercover work. Now going by the nickname "Gigi," she is sent with David to Ushbania, a country in Eastern Europe, to free David's father. It just so happens that his father's kidnapper also runs a modeling school. Gigi goes undercover as a model and David pretends to be her photographer. Together, they must pull off an elaborate plot to find and free David's father before it's too late. The majority of the story is spent explaining who the Specialists are, how they got to the school, and the rigorous training schedules. The concept is fun and it's nice to see a girl as a spy, a role usually reserved for boys in action books. The large cast of secondary characters muddles up the plot, though they are likely being introduced for larger roles in forthcoming books. Hopefully future books will also include more action.

May 29, 2009: This book was amazing. I got it at a book festival and even met Shannon Greenland (I got her autograph and she is sooo nice!). When I finally had enough time, I picked it up and started reading it. I could not stop reading it. It was amazing! I'm so glad that I decided to get it. It has just the right amount of everything... excitement, romance, emotion, suspense, etc, etc. Even my super picky friend loved it. She picked it up when I spent the night at her house (I took it just about everywhere with me) and she finished it by the next day. That's all she did the whole time I was over there. This book is amazing and I highly recommend it.

November 04, 2008: Kelly, a foster teen with nowhere to call home, gets herself into a little bit of trouble hacking into a government computer system as a favor for her hottie R.A. Now she's under arrest.

Kelly's given a choice of being sent to a juvenile detention center or a government Special Operations Unit. Soon, her identity is gone and she's now Kelly Spree, working for the government as the resident computer genius with other teen agents.

But the biggest surprise is that it was all just a set-up, and that hottie R.A., David, well, he was sent to recruit her.

Now she's about to go on her first mission posing as a model and it's David who will be her backup. Kelly's finally found a place to call home and will do anything to stay there. So she does her job. She plays the part of the spoiled model convincingly while downplaying her crush on David.

If you liked I'D TELL YOU I LOVE YOU, BUT THEN I'D HAVE TO KILL YOU by Ally Carter, don't miss out on this great spy novel full of intrigue, drama, and one very big crush.
