wake up call
dragonfaerie (paimxbeer@yahoo.com), exploring the forgotten paths, 12/21/2002
while in the process of reading this book I've learned a great deal about myself and others. This book has a waking message to it. We should wake up and stop being the spiritually deprived zombies we've become. A must for anyone truly intent on finding the "mist-filled path."

Celtic Common Sense & Spiritual Vision

What a great book! In a day and age where silly romanticist neo-Pagan writings often lack any real depth, The Mist-Filled Path emerges to the top as a solid piece of writing. It is a book that really challenges us to walk a path of authenticity, as no doubt its author has. In twenty years most other books on Celtic spirituality will be collecting dust, but The Mist-Filled Path will still be a companion to the spiritual seeker and spiritual practitioner alike.

A Celtic Shaman Speaks
A reviewer, A reviewer, 04/16/2002
This was a great book! Partially a stirring personal account of an authentic shamanic crisis and initiation within the Celtic tradition, it branches out into areas that most books on shamanism and spirituality rarely approach about the modern world, such as social activism, protest, the homeless, and the treatment of women. I don't know Mr. MacEowen, but based on some of the following words from the back of the book from such well-known people as Caitlin Matthews and Julia Butterfly Hill I greatly look forward to meeting him one day. . . . . . Some helpful reviews I found on Mr. MacEowen's website and from the back of the book which convinced me to buy The Mist Filled Path. . . . . .“The Mist-Filled Path is a book by and about . . . a teacher, a modern Celt, the initiatory crises that led him to discover who he is, and his impassioned call to the rest of us to find the old paths once again, walk them, and discover the mystic beauties of the many worlds we live in. Frank MacEowen reminds us who we are. Or who we could be.” –by Tom Cowan, author of Fire in the Head, Shamanism As A Spiritual Practice for Daily Life, and The Way of the Saints. . . . . 'The Mist Filled Path brings to life the ancient teachings and spirit of Celtic Shamanism by making it relevant to our current life experiences and dilemmas. Frank MacEowen masterfully communicates his personal quest, which brought him to the roots of his tradition and beckons us all to discover the ancient sacred paths that speak our truth. This book is a call to action, to find ourselves, and a practical guide of journeys and meditations to awaken the heart, the compassion, and the wisdom of our shared human heritage, and to bring them into the world.” -Larry Peters, Ph.D., renowned scholar and initiated shaman in the Tibetan traditions. . .. . . .'A rich and poetic book that seems to bring together the very best aspects of the Celtic vision of the world. Warm, personal and adventurous, this is a book which should be read by everyone remotely interested in the human spirit.' —John and Caitlín Matthews, authors of The Encyclopedia of Celtic Wisdom . . . . . .“A distinctive and evocative book that makes a worthy contribution to our understanding of Celtic tradition and, best of all, inspires us to participate in Celtic consciousness.” –R. J. Stewart, author of Earth Light, The Merlin Tarot, and Celtic Bards, Celtic Druids . . . . . .“Frank MacEowen is an astute learner, a visionary teacher, and a sensual storyteller. In an era when shamanism has become one of the most popular topics in bookstores, at newsstands, and on television, this refreshingly pragmatic literary sojourn into the perennial Mist-Filled Path of Celtic wisdom is a timely, heartfelt gift to the world. An illuminating and important work. I recommend it highly!” -Oscar Miro-Quesada, Peruvian kamasqa curandero and founder of The Heart of the Healer Foundation . . . . . . .“The Mist-Filled Path is a beautiful and passionate description of a soul journey along the old Celtic roads between earth and sky. It is also a spirited invitation to collective soul recovery, inviting us to reclaim ways of being and seeing that were shared by our ancestors. To read Frank MacEowen is to go hillwalking with a friend who speaks the language of trees and birds, and knows the ‘thin places’ where we can slip into the Otherworld for adventure and initiation. This book is a gift and a delight” —Robert Moss, author of Conscious Dreaming, Dreamgates, and Dreaming True . . . . . .“Frank is a brother of the Otherworld. He is a Western man, of Celtic roots, who has learned the importance of listening to the ancestors.” —Malidoma Somé, Dagara West African shaman, and author of The Healing Wisdom of Africa . . . . . . .'The power of personal experience to enlighten, guide and activate resonates undeniably throughout Frank MacEowen's The Mist Filled Path. Peer within these pages into the mists of your own connection to our world and the divine. May this book guide you into heartfelt conscious action on behalf of all that is sacred.' -Julia Butterfly Hill, activist and author of The Legacy of Luna
