This book offers much-needed encouragement to families who are tired of hearing society's endless whine about the impossibility of mothers staying at home to raise their own children. The fact is, it can be done, according to McCoy. Her "Eleven Miserly Guidelines" are completely practical, and at the top of the list is the most important: "Don't confuse frugality with depriving yourself."

May 20, 2001: I was looking for some new ideas for cutting cost and I found loads of great ideas in this book. The recipe section substitutes many shortcuts for the convenience foods that we all assume would be too time-comsuming to make from scratch.(And they taste great too !) I love this book and would reccommend it to anyone who values time home with their children :)
