      Synopsis

In 1947, the U.S. Army left behind a secret when they closed Ft. Miles, Delaware. A threat so deadly, they buried it 1000 feet down in the Atlantic Ocean. Now, sixty years later, an oil rig drilling off the coast of Delaware has hit something. Within hours, crew members are dying from a mysterious illness that kills unmercifully. On the opposite coast, Justin Flannigan, an estranged epidemiologist is visited by the director of the CDC who convinces him to come to Delaware to investigate the bizarre illness. But shortly after he begins his investigation, he gets another visit. This time from an eccentric old man who claims to know the origin of the deadly contagion, and soon, Justin begins to suspect there is more to it than what first appeared. It is evolving swiftly, becoming more deadly with each passing hour. As the illness spreads to the general population, Justin realizes that this one old man may hold the key not only to his survival, but to the survival of the entire planet.

      NJ Sunday Star Ledger

      Well-constructed and a fine read, . . . with admirable gusto.

March 11, 2009: I listened to the audio version of this book, which was great. Mr. Clem has created an enjoyable story, which is greatly complimented by Mr. Hamilton's narration and skills. I look forward to listening to more of Mr. Clem's books real soon.

November 03, 2007: I picked up this book after hearing the author compared to Michael Crichton and Robin Cook. I just want to say, he deserves to be mentioned with them. And although his books are similar to both the aformentioned, he has his own style that is remarkable. This book was fast paced and well plotted from start to finish. In fact, it's so well written, I had to remind myself that it was fiction. I'm a medical professional and I appreciate the realism Mr. Clem brings to the page. His own medical background is obvious in his settings and dialogue. I can't say much more except if you like a good medical thriller, Clem definetely ranks with the best of the best. I plan on reading his other four books in quick succession
