July 16, 2003: I am so pleased that Dr. Doyle has created a permanent tribute to the beautiful movie theaters all over the state. So many of these were true palaces that provided memorable experiences for young and old alike. It is clear he went to great lengths to locate information and archival photos that highlight the magnificent architecture of so many of these theaters. This is a book for anyone who believed going to the movies in the 30s, 40s and 50s was a special experience. As a film instructor, I intend to share the history with my students, most of whom have never had the privilege to watch films in these great movie houses.
