September 18, 2009: Journals, like any product, appeal to different folks for different reasons. This one DEFINITELY appealed to me, for many reasons:
1) LOOK AND FEEL - When I first discovered books published with pages that were printed to look like aged parchment, I wondered how long it would be before we saw journals with the same look. Well, now they are here, and I love the way this one was done. The binding strip looks and feels and even smells a bit like leather (though there's no claim that it is)and the metallic finish is not overdone. 2) STAYS OPEN WITH EASE - Some hard bound (non-spiral) journals fight you to keep them flat while writing until after a very throrough break in process / period. This one falls and stays open easily, but the binding doesn't feel loose or flimsy in any way. It's just ideal.3) INK INTENSITY - some printed page journals leave the ink from your pen beading up on the page. Not this one. I pen test all my journals on the last page, and this one provided a great, rich line with ball point, roller ball, sharpie and calligraphy pens alike. Even an HB pencil looked great. 4) SIZE - at 8ish x 6ish x .75"ish, it's a perfect size for a handy book to keep in a backpack, briefcase or small book shelf. Whether you plan to use this book for journaling, writing your next fantasy / adventure novel, keeping role playing notes or just jotting down ideas, if your preferences in a journal are anything like mine, I think you'll love this item. The price asked definitely makes this a great value.Reader Rating:
