Description: This CD-ROM provides multiple choice questions on all the major body systems. A game format is used with immediate feedback. Windows 95/98 or Mac OS8.5 is required.
Purpose: Preparing for NCLEX or certification or just reviewing for a unit exam is the purpose of this program. The computer format makes immediate feedback with rationale possible. This enhances learning and holds the interest. The idea of a game format is a stretch that is not needed for students of a profession.
Audience: Nursing students are the intended audience. A group representing many areas of expertise developed the program. A good review is presented in the 1,000 questions provided.
Features: The program is technically sound, easy to install and navigate. Questions can be accessed by body system or randomly depending upon the "game" selected. The graphics are animated and include a nurse who frequently looks lost and confused. Some of the other cartoon representations are less than professional. The best components of this product are the good quality multiple choice questions and the immediate feedback with rationale.
Assessment: This program could be improved by removing the game/cartoon format. Treating students like the professionals they seek to become would be an improvement. Otherwise the program is an excellent study tool for students preparing for exams.

December 08, 2007: this book is just o.k... i don't regret buying it, but it lacks a lot of info... things are made very easy to understand, but the content validity is very weak. some of the info i found to be outdated and no longer used... like i said, the book lacks a lot of detail and neglects many many many aspects of med-surg.. i would strongly recommend 'medical surgical nursing - reviews and rationals' isbn# 0-13-030457-3 now that is a great book.....
