Fourteen-year-old Maximum Ride and the other members of the "Flock"--Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman and Angel--are just like ordinary kids--only they have wings and can fly. It seems like a dream come true--except that they're being hunted by half-human, half-wolf "Erasers" who can fly, too.
In Book 2 of the series, the Flock members are taken under the wing of an FBI agent and try to live "normal" lives by going to school, making friends--and continuing their relentless search for their parents. But the Erasers return, forcing the Flock to abandon their search and make their escape once again. The voice inside Max's head keeps telling her that it's up to her to save the world, but this is especially challenging to do when she is faced with her ultimate match: a newer and better version of herself, Maximum Ride II. Max's heart-stopping quest to investigate the mind-blowing mystery of her ultimate destiny continues in the scariest, strangest, and funniest James Patterson novel yet.
Max, Fang, Iggy, Gasman, Nudge and Angel are being hunted by killers. No big deal because these kids can fly, literally. But how will this new threat to their safety affect their mission to save the world? Listeners will find out in School's Out Forever, James Patterson's second installment of the Maximum Ride series narrated with aplomb by Valentina de Angelis. (June). More Reviews and RecommendationsNot making any bones about his bid for success, James Patterson once declared he wanted to be known as “the king of the page-turners.” While that may seem like a pretty grand ambition, Patterson is as worthy of that title as any author working today.

I highly suggest buying this book. It really keeps you on edge throughout the novel. This is coming from someone who is in high school, and very much dislikes reading. I had tried to read several novels before, but none could keep my attention. This book is very good for middle school, to high school students. The vocabulary is at a good reading level for a student. The storyline is not confusing or hard to follow. The only tough part is catching on to the characters names, and who is who for the first couple of chapters. I really felt that this book made you feel on the edge at some points. I even made some faces while reading. (Meaning, the book caused those reactions from me) It is somewhat of a sci-fi kind of book, but not to the point where it is crazy imagination at play, like Harry Potter and such. The fact of these kids being bird hybrids is at least supported by somewhat logical science. That really keeps the book from not falling apart. Overall, this is one heck of a book. I am sure I will be reading the sequels as well. Not a super complicated book, with crazy figurative language, so this book gets thumbs up from me!
